Rangehoods General / Installation Tips What is the maximum recommended ducting length? Miele does not provide a maximum recommended ducting length for any of its rangehoods, as there are just too many variables to provide a universal recommendation. These variables include: • The type of ducting (i.e. a round, rigid pipe is better than semi-rigid ducting) • The diameter of ducting (i.e. 150 mm diameter is better than any reductions) • The number and angle/radius of bends (i.e. wider radii are better than tight bends) • The overall length of the ducting If there are any concerns or queries regarding what appears to be a particularly complex or difficult ducting installation, Miele can, on request, provide official pressure curve drawings for any of its rangehoods, which can be used by qualified engineers or ventilation specialists to assess the suitability of any given ducting configuration. Why does Miele not recommend the use of inline fans? Experience has shown that it is practically impossible to achieve the perfect synchronisation of third-party supplied inline fans with the Miele rangehood motor on the various different power settings. Consequently, the use of inline fans in conjunction with Miele rangehoods would effectively be counterproductive, resulting in reduced air throughput performance, increased noise levels, a reduced motor lifespan, or a combination of any of these factors. How effective is air recirculation? A good recirculating installation is far superior to a poorly ducted one. 208
