16 Microwave defrosting and reheating • Take note of the recommended microwave power levels, durations and standing times. These take the consistency, the quantity and the initial temperature of the food into account. • You are generally advised to select the middle duration. • Use appropriate crockery (e.g. a glass dish, an ovenproof dish or a flat plate) depending on the consistency of the food (liquid or solid, size and quantity). Place the crockery on the glass tray on shelf level 1 in the oven. • Several individual items of food such as bread rolls can be placed directly on the glass tray for defrosting. • Be sure to observe the standing time indicated. Allow food to stand at room temperature. This allows the heat to spread evenly throughout the food and ensures that a consistent temperature is reached.
