9 General notes Suitable containers (Refers only to microwave operation) • Microwaves pass through porcelain, ceramic, glass, cardboard and plastic. These materials can therefore be used in a microwave oven. • As a general rule, porcelain can be used without any problems. However, please note that some glazes and paints contain metallic substances. Do not use these kinds of containers. • Decorated earthenware is only suitable if the decoration is underneath a full glaze. Earthenware can get very hot and may crack. • Heat-resistant glass or ceramic glass are ideal for use in microwave ovens. • For cooking procedures, plastic containers must be resistant to temperatures of up to 110 °C, as otherwise they will deform. If you are using containers or packaging (polystyrene) that are only intended to be used in the short term for heating procedures, these do not need the same level of heat resistance. • You can also use roasting bags. Instead of metal clips, seal them with string. Do not use any fasteners with metal inserts. Special cooking bags are available for microwave ovens. • The material and shape of containers used affect cooking results and times. Heat distribution is more even in round and oval shaped flat containers than in rectangular containers, providing better results. • The supplied containers can be used in the Rapid steam cooking operating mode.
