Sustainability is baked into everything we do. Take locally sourced ingredients, add Miele resourcefulness and create lasting memories, with appliances made to minimise your environmental footprint. As an independent, family-owned company for over 120 years, our vision has always been the same: to strive, to be ‘Immer Besser’ (Forever Better) in all that we do. Today, we continue to live by that guiding philosophy, taking a holistic approach to developing products that minimise consumption while maximising performance. As a global industry leader in environmental protection, we are committed to achieving our goal of zero impact on climate at all our production locations. Within these pages, you'll find some of our favourite seasonal recipes to help you create memorable meals for your family and friends. Ways to be more sustainable in the kitchen Less packaging Whenever possible, buy ingredients in bulk as this reduces the amount of packaging consumed. Utilise our vacuum sealing drawers to repack produce into smaller quantities and freeze. Eat less processed foods Foods which are less refined require less energy to produce. Buy local Australia and New Zealand have an incredible array of producers. By purchasing from local suppliers, you will reduce the kilometres your food needs to travel. Grow your own herbs Create a kitchen garden with a few chosen herbs. Perennial herbs such as rosemary, thyme and mint are great to start with. This will reduce the distance your food travels to just metres! Composting No matter how small your home is, you can compost your food scraps. Try kitchen composters, worm farms or compost bins. Recycling We recommend recycling soft plastics, including those used to sous-vide in our vacuum sealing drawer. Most major supermarkets in Australia and New Zealand have soft plastics collection bins.
